Kamaishi Unosumai Memorial Stadium

"Kamaishi Unosumai Memorial Stadium" located in the Unosumai Athletic Park in Kamaishi City. Since the city is a home town of the 'Team Kamaishi' play for "NIPPON STEEL CORPORATION", the team won its seventh consecutive Rugby Championship in Japan. The city of Kamaishi has incorporated the construction of a rugby stadium in its athletic park as a reconstruction plan for the Unosumai town which was severely damaged by the tsunami.
In 2014, Kamaishi City announced its candidacy for the host city of the "Rugby World Cup 2019" in Japan. In 2015, Kamaishi City was chosen to host for the world cup. Although it was said that it is impossible to hold the World Cup in the city at the beginning, but hosting the World Cup has become a great hope and pride for the people in Iwate Prefecture and Kamaishi City who were suffered by the disaster.
